Lothelian and her twin sister Luthelian were born in Imladris in the year 2809 of the Third Age. Their parents were refugees from Eregion who had found each other in Imladris after their home was ruined. In Eregion, her father was a scout and archer, while her mother was one of the craftsmen of the Gwaith-i-Mírdain. They were wed during the Watchful Peace, though it was many years before there was sufficient peace in Imladris for children. Lothelian and Luthelian were raised by loving parents who regarded them as treasures more precious than any on Arda. However, their parents also instilled in them a sense of duty to their people, and never ceased to remind them that they were of the Noldor, and that they must aid their own people when the time came. Their childhood was not marred by any great sorrow, and the bond between the sisters only grew stronger with time. While Luthelian preferred the way of the bow and spear, Lothelian loved rather the hammer and anvil. Currently, Lothelian spends most of her time in her mother's workshop, helping her forge and repair weapons and armour. 

Similar to her father, she has an easygoing personality and is very social. However,  she adores her mother, in spite of her strictness. The two things she loves best in the world are her forge and her twin sister Luthelian. She has a playful streak, and sometimes makes mischief with her sister. In their childhood she was always the willing accomplice, aiding and abetting Luthelian in her plans, whether they were for pranking some friends, or simply having a picnic outdoors. She loves being outdoors, where she searches for interesting samples of minerals, ore, and other treasures of the earth to bring home. In her free time, she loves creating things with her hands, especially casting metal figurines and sculptures.​
