The Eglain have no lords, though this title is occasionally used by their leaders when they come into contact with other peoples. Instead they are governed by a council of elders, who attempt to accurately represent the views and wishes of their families. Family life is of huge importance to the Eglain, who see themselves as one great extended family. Birth, marriage and death are accorded a great deal of ceremony, though the feasts held are typically meagre. The folklore of the Forsaken is deep and complex, incorporating elements such as river-spirits, ghosts of fallen warriors and the kings of old. I will not go into detail on this matter, mainly because my own knowledge is still rather limited. What I can be sure of though is that the Eglain have many fine songs, both merry and morose, and that the telling of stories is beloved of them. After all, out here in the wastes of Rhudaur there are few other ways to past away the time.
