I have decided! I will put my proposal to Randir ... that we turn about and return to Rivendell, and then continue east. It is a hard road to ask him to travel, though I will do my best to guide him. I wonder if he would relinquish the position of guide? We can find Araenion -we can all travel together ...
Yes! This plan seems better and better! If Randir will only consent to it ... there could be nothing more likely to turn Her heart than one of the Northmen requesting this favour. I do not want to return to Calenglad to tell him of my failure thusfar to see Her. Surely She will not treat Randir as coldly as She has treated me? There is no blame in him, and nothing that she could dislike. Had I know how Her heart would be I would have begged Calenglad to find a better messenger.
He must agree! It is for the good of his own people! And think of how it would be for him - what Man would refuse a chance to walk under the leaves of the golden wood? If She consents, he can return north with the news, and take my maps with him! And Araenion and I can continue along the Anduin, finally, to his home.
