Building Alliances: Chapter Three; A Spy in their camp.

After meeting with Gerwolf, I made my way to the Prancing Pony Inn, planning to spend one last night in comfort before returning to Thorins Halls.   I pulled open the tavern door, instantly struck by the smell of ale and burning pipe-weed, pushing my way through the crowds to the bar.  I was about to signal to the bartender so I could rent a room when I looked to my right and saw something that made my blood boil.

Milada stood there, draining the bottom of her tankard.

Milada, who had allied herself with Hughes.

I grabbed her around the arm, drawing her attention, then pointedly indicating the back rooms.  She shrugged, walking after me.

"Who are you?" Asked Milada, trailing off as I removed my helmet.  She gasped, uttering my name before I grabbed her around the collar, lifting her feet off the ground and pushing her into the wall, my other hand across her mouth to stop her calling out.

"Why have you joined with Dieudonnae?" I growled, slowly removing my hand.

Milada smirked.  "To save my neck.  Her mercenary was going to kill me."

I shook my head. "I was there.  you saw me.  I wouldn't have let him get close."

She shrugged again, indifferent.  "Whatever.  I'm on your side now.  Kerl was a good friend, and I won't betray him."

"I wish I could believe you," I sighed, "but I just can't.  If you can pass me some solid information on Dieudonnae's plans and activities, I may be able to trust you again."

Milada grinned. "Trust me? No one trusts me.  But you can rely on me."

I grinned, letting her go and putting my helmet back on.

"I'll be in touch." I said, leaving the Prancing Pony.  It would be safer to go straight home.
