When Fox finally awoke from his fever, he did not know how to feel. He would live, that was for sure. Taala had patched him up well enough.
Was this really the life I had wanted?
The pain was unbearable at first. That was when Ted came to visit again. He explained to Fox the reasons why he had joined the Blackwolds, which were remarkably similar for his own reasons for joining the Bloody Dawn in the first place. It seems they both seeked the freedom that comes with being a sell sword within a company.
Was he ill-treated by father also, to make him feel this way? Did he also feel restrained growing up? Did he take his frustration out on me?
Fox did not in the end feel the need to hit him, not that he could have done anyway in his state. He felt pity towards his brother, a feeling he never thought he would feel.
Ted was always a smooth-talker. Could he be lying his way back into his good books? To what end?
Whatever the case, he knew what needed to be done. Speaking with Taala only confirmed it. He would retire from the Bloody Dawn, and set up a workshop in Towerglan. When he felt a bit better, she took him to see a house that was available not far from hers. It would serve. He bought it the next day with funds given to him by his brother, gold coins he stole from the Blackwolds the day he left.
The Blackwolds destroyed everything he had, but they may just have given him his brother back. The brother he always knew Ted could be.
I should get used to calling him Brammy, the name he likes to go by now. He never liked the name Ted.
