My hammer crashed into the ancient stonework of the barrow wall, causing a chunk of ancient masonry to drop to the ground and a shock of great force to travel down my arm, almost making me lose grip of the weapon. The small figure behind me stifled a laugh and spoke 'Sebbi! Watch what your doing! You'll have the whole place down around our ears'.
'This is hardly the time Zara' I replied, steadying my balance and ducking backwards to avoid the rusted iron club swung my way by the walking corpse before me. Surging forward, thrusting my hammer before me like a spear, I caught the creature full in what remained of its face, sending it crashing to the ground where it lay unmoving. Kicking the corpse to make sure it had been returned to its natural state, I turned to Zara and sternly indicated towards the body 'This is why we are here in this corrupt tomb, to drive out the spirits who raise the bones of the desecrated dead of the Cardolan.'
Looking at me strangely Zara replied 'You don't need to make a speech about it Sebbi, I know why you're here. As for me I'm on the look out for a certain item mentioned to me by a friend in Bree.'
'We are not here for robbery Zara! The treasures of the Cardolan Rangers will remain here where they belong' I replied, examining my hammer for damage and turning around in time to see Zara hurrying along deeper into the darkness.
