*This is found lying in a small snake hole near the homesteads of Bree. It's in a very rusty, very tattered lockbox, but the parchment inside is still in decent shape. Aside the parchment in the box, is a pouch of silver coins, and a wedding band. A few paces into the woods, one would find a skeleton, undiscovered for at least four years, maybe more. The only thing you could infer from this skeleton, is that it's owner was once a man, and that something broke a few of his bones.. On his body, is another pouch of silver, and tattered remnants of what was once leather armor.*
Cousin,
I have quickly learned my breaking point in this career path. You know the one, I'm sure. I hate to say it, but there's nothing left for me in this town. Not now, anyway.
I need to find my own path, not the one set for me by my father, your uncle - I hope he'd understand. I have to leave Bree-land for a while. Maybe a month, maybe a few years, I don't know yet.
I am going to miss you and Sereyna while I'm gone, and I almost wish I could take you with me. But I know you've got a farm to look after, and your daughter has hardly hit womanhood yet. Maybe one day when she grows up, she can travel with me, if I even make it back. Say goodbye to everyone for me, I can't bring myself to do it. It wouldn't feel pleasant.
Enclosed is some silver, and my wedding band (Just in case the courier decided to steal it, I thought I'd mention it). The silver isn't much, but the wedding band is worth about three months of a guardsman's salary. Do with it what you wish, it might come in handy if money becomes an issue.
I hope I see you again in the future. I'll try and be back by your daughter's eighteenth winter. If I don't, it's safe to assume that I'll never be coming back. I'll be heading west initially. That's all I know. Good luck, and goodbye.. For now.
-R
