Words of the wise

Brushes and trees seemed to rushed past, bounding over roots and stumps as the hunter looked to his side. His breath was heavy as he continued to run, watching his foot as to make sure he did not step on a twig or dry leaves. Cynraede stopped but for a moment, quickly looking around him, barely able to hear the soft flap of wings that beat gently against the gentle forests breeze. With a quiet laugh, the hunter pushed off once more and continued his race.

Just ahead, smoke rose from the small copse of trees. Aedicus sat quietly in front of the campfire, smoking is pipe as he tended to the food that cooked over the flame. "You sound like a pregnant cow running through the woods. I could have shot you between the eyes the first time your foot hit the grass, and you call yourself a hunter..." The man snorted and laughed as he looked to the bare chested hunter. "And white as a cloud, by the Fathers beard boy, do you never see the sun?"

Cynraede laughed as he took his seat, Uial darting out of the forest and landing on the log beside him. " Hard to see the sun when you spend time in the forests and deepening shadows." Aedicus scoffed as he flipped the bacon, looking to him with a smile. " Thats what your father used to say. White as sheet that one! You look just like him, but you have the eyes of your mother. Tell me, I hear rumors of you, saying that you went up north to Angmar? Why would you return to that wretched place?"  Cynraede nodded carefully to him and spoke quietly. "There was one who rose up again, one whom not only threatened the Order but also some one I love. He had to be dealt with." Aedicus nodded with a laugh and raised a curious brow towards Cynraede. "This woman you're in love with, he hurt her? Woe unto him..."

Aedicus handed the hunter a small metal plate with a few pieces of bacon and some pine thrush eggs that he had fried carefully. "May I ask what you plan to do now? Has Alkawen given you orders?" He looked to Cynraede, who was now happily nawing on the bacon. "Not yet, no. I plan on writing more on the book, in hopes that it will one day help at least one member of the Order." He finished and then picked up another piece of bacon, eating quietly as he listened. "I wish the same. Does Fairlain know?" Cynrade stopped and turned his gaze to Aedicus. "No, I'm not entirely sure how to tell her either. I may go back to Arrowhaven for awhile, and speak with her. She gives sound advice, and she is an amazing listener." He said before returning to his food as Aedicus gave him a warm smile and chuckled. "All good women are my son, hold her close and do not dare let her go." The hunter laughed and shook his head, looking back to the forest. "Oh she will never have to fear me letting go. She already knows that I belong to her, there is not thing that I would not do for her."

Aedicis raised a brow and tilted his head. "Oh? And should you have to take a life to defend her?" Cynraede hushed for several moments before turning his serious gaze to meet his grandfathers. "It would not be the first that would have been taken, nor would it be the last if she was in danger." Aedicus nodded to Cynraede, a curious look about him. "Well, I'm coming with you. I'm sure D-... Adunabel, forgive me. I am sure he would be glad to accompany us on any adventures that we might go on." With a raised brow, Cynraede chuckled and nodded at him. "You sure you wouldn't need a cane?" The old man tilted his head scoffed with a wide smile across his face. "I'd only need a cane to crack it across that thick skull of yours boy! Now finish eating, I still have much to teach you. I might make a hunter out of you yet!"
