Background

Hál frændi
The Northlings are a gathering of Northmen and Dwarves who hail from the wild lands of Wilderland. This group is bounded by their kinship and want to keen this kinship intact, even in the Wester-lands of Eriador.
A safe haven is open to all that hail from Wilderland and have traversed the Misty Mountains. Those that have wandered the Old Forest Road of Mirkwood. To those that have left their beloved Rhovanion; Erebor, Dale, Lake-Town, Iron Hills to come East to the Bree-lands. It matters not the reason for their coming hither, only what matters is that these North-folk are given a warm welcome.

By ale, mirth and song all those that have come so far are welcomed as if they had never left. Members give aid, through food, homage, coin and warmth of hearth to all those who seek it from the East. Many of it's members craft items of worth for their kindred to take upon their reaching of Bree. Others offer merely news and contacts to set them on their feet.
Out of Character
Aims:
Founded for the purpose of bringing all like-minded Roleplayers of characters of Rhovanion together, the Northlings hopes to bring Northmannish and Dwarfish Roleplay to a greater light.
We are a Roleplay only kinship. We encourage and nurture the niche lore of Wilderland and it's people as much as we can. While a deep knowledge of Tolkien's lore is not required, a want to learn is a must.
We hope to some day have a Roleplay hub in the form is a Mead Hall. But, untill then we continue to nurture Northmannish and Dwarven Roleplay.
Name:
The Northlings meaning "The Folk of the North" has a miss-matched etymology. 'North' denotes to that Men of Dale, Lake-Town, Men of the Vale and other men of Rhovanion are nominally named "Northmen" . (note; Men of the Mark also fall into this bracket, but are not accepted into this Kinship).
"ings" (or -ingas) is a suffix already used within the lore and by Tolkien. See, Bardings, Eorlingas, Helmingas, Beornings. It is derived from Old English ing, ung "belonging to, son of". While also giving a nod to Tolkien's Inklings.
