(2) Meeting in Duillond

I just left Duillond, after a strange thing befell me.  Yesterday evening, I met a strange elf at the fountain there, a most noble warrior.  He told me of a company called the Loth-i-Lonnath, of whom I had only heard distant rumors before.  He suggested that I stay a while with them, and spend my remaining time in Middle Earth here in Ered Luin.  He said his name was Istuir, and that his people had dedicated themselves to protecting Ered Luin, keeping the land safe that our kinsfolk coming to the Havens should be able to travel in safety.  But I do not feel I can stay here.  I do not know how long it will be before I must also follow the call of the gulls, and set sail for the Undying Lands.

I asked around in Duillon about my brother, like I did in Celondim.  Nobody here had ever heard of him, though.  I wonder what happened, why he departed on a secret mission some years ago, then never returned?  Why did Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel visit my parents only a few months before we came west?  Why did my parents not even tell me the Lord and Lady had visited them, until they realized I already knew?  There are so many questions I still need answered.  I cannot leave without answering them.  I cannot leave without at the least discovering what happened to my brother.

I have heard of an old Elven refuge north of here, up near where the dwarves live.  I have started on my path to Thorin's Halls, and will see the lands of the dwarves before I head south and east to the Trollshaws, to see if any in Imladris have heard any news of my brother.

It is time for me to go.  Hopefully, I can write more soon.
