Laerloth is the last of three children born to Taurdir Naurglin and Giladuial the Bright of the Dunedain who dwelt at that time with many scattered folk between the Hills of Evendim and the Shire. She was born at dawn in the Summer of 2997 of the Third Age and was named Laerloth which means Summer Blossom, for so indeed to her family it seem, as she was blessed with golden hair which was held as a marvel, for none of her close kin shared this and it was only ever rarely found among the Dunedain. After tragedy befell her family when she was young, in which both her mother and father perished, she was raised by her sister in the wilderlands along with her brother. She was taught woodlore, in which she surpassed both her siblings, and she was skilled with a bow and with a knife, being a great hunter and tracker. In personality she differs from her siblings, for her sister is grave and stern and her brother is quiet and thoughtful. Yet Laerloth is quick to laughter and merriment, finding delight in jests and songs, though she is also quick to anger and her wrath can be great when kindled. She enjoys company and unlike most of the Dunedain she takes more easily to the comforts and ways of simple folk. Yet she is aware of the task set to her and her kin and of the high lineage of the Dunedain and for this she still keeps to the ways of her people and tirelessly protects the lands from the far North Downs to the borders of the Shire.
