The South Farthing Gate Poem

Oh, South Farthing is such a fine country
It has many fine homesteads to see
It is home of the Old Toby pipeweed
And a place where I long soon to be

I'd love to go down to South Farthing
But it looks like I'll just have to wait
For the Mayor has been terribly beastly
And has locked up the South Farthing Gate

Now he said he's just following orders
That were given by Shiriff T. Bine
Well, I'd like to go meet this odd fellow
And give him a piece of my mind!

Too long we've been kept from out kinfolk
Too long has the gate been kept closed
We want more than a glimpse of the hilltops
But to feel their sweet grass with our toes

It is time for us all to do battle
But not with our axes and swords
For we'll brandish the power of music
And conquer with passionate words

For all Hobbits should roam far and freely
From early at dawn to quite late
We don't want to see any fences
So open up South Farthing Gate!
