Bramba's Diary, Entry Five

Hullo again Diary,

I should really write in this more often but I've been busy with Norgi's wedding and building up stock for the market days and everything. People are starting to buy more and more muffins and even get adventurous with other things as well. The cherry rhubarb crumble was a great success despite it being hard to eat with your fingers.

Then again there's few things more satisfying than licking your sticky fingers after a nice but of crumble.

I had a bit of a surprise on Monday, that Ifo came all the way to the market in Michel Delving! last I heard he was off away South somewhere visiting his homeland and collecting wolf pelts so it was quite a shock. A nice shock though, it's always fun to talk to Ifo, he makes me laugh.

When I introduced Miss Lina as a prominent hobbit in the local community and he said he'd seen bigger it was all I could do to keep a straight face. Poor lad. Still I don't think anyone got their noses too far out of joint so all's well that ends better as my ma used to say.

Anyway just when I thought nothing more would happen to surprise me Ifo only ups and asks me out! It seems he's a bit of a dark horse and he wants to come dancing at the Green Dragon! Naturally I said yes quick before he changes his mind.

Tongues may wag that I can't attract no Shire lad and I have to take up with some rough and rustic outsider but I don't care. It'll give those that mind other people's business more than their own more to talk about than how a single lass shouldn't live on her own or how some of the song I sing are a little too risqué.

If I lived my life by what other people approve of I'd never have left the Shire and gone to seek my fortune in the first place and I'd not be the hobbit I am today. Of course there's some as would prefer it that way I'm sure, not least among those being my Dad, but I for one am a lot happier for having had my adventures.

Now what dress should I wear? It's too soon after the wedding to try the turquoise one again. The black sleeveless number is tempting but it's a little restrictive and  I think I'll need to move about a lot to keep up. I think I'll just wear something simple in a nice cheery colour. Maybe the old dress I used to wear to play in Combe with the daring neckline. If I let it out a touch around the waist it should still fit me and I have enough dyes that I can give it a bit of a fresh lease of life.

Better make sure my little hobbit hole is nice and tidy too, just in case he wants to walk me home and maybe come in for a cuppa and a nibble.
