The Way Back Home: part 7

A force to be reckoned with

HALT!! The commander shouted to his dwarves. The half of them stepped to the left and the other half to the right. The commander came to me and said: "Who is this? A wicked dwarf spying for Rhûn perhaps? Whom am i speaking with?" He said very loud. "A brother I said." He looked me in the eye's and his mouth fell open. I am Ryga Silverfist son of Ryhrad Silverfist and I am going back home. "Ryga... We did not think you would come back all the way from the blue mountains". "But I'm also on a quest, why was I brought to Ered Luin and raised by my uncle?"I asked with all anger from the lonely years. He looked over my shoulder and saw the enemy advance. "We don't have time to explain that now, the enemy is near". "Ryga come with me, I want to test you in battle".

We got to his bodyguard and waited for the enemy. The waiting was nerve wracking, every second veldt like an hour. When they got close the battalion threw throwing axes and charged. I fought along side a lieutenant who was a very quick fighter. He fought with a double handed axe just like me. Were a good team together as said by other dwarrows after the battle, just like brothers in arms. The battle was bloody, on the side of Rhûn, the Silverguards shield wall held very good and the men of Rhûn were pushed back quite easily. Although we had taken some losses in the battle, it was a grand victory. A victory that helped defend Erebor and the Iron Hills from the invading armies of Rhûn.

After the battle there was a grand feast. The lieutenant that fought with me was Gyrrak, he is my older brother. We became very close friends. The commander of this battalion was Rimli, my grandfather. Rimli told me we were to return to Azalumibar-Dûm, orders from Durain. Rimli also said he had send a raven telling of my return. Everything would be explained by my father when we got to Azanulimbar-Dûm he told me as well. So there we went, this would be the last step towards home, where my journey would finally end and this story also.

Here ends part seven of my story.
