The Silverguard. I am Ryga Silverfist son of Ryhrad Silverfist and this is the history of my families guard. The Silverguard was founded by my great-greatgrandfather Dwadlin in the year 2612 of the third age. That was when Grór, the first Lord of the Iron Hills ruled. Dwadlin created the Silverguard because he thought Azanulimbar-Dûm needed a better defends force against the armies of Rhûn. Rhûn still is a great threat to the Iron Hills and Erebor, more about that later.
The Silverguard consist of very well trained dwarven warriors. It is(currently) made up of three groups. One using shields and axes for defensive purposes. Another one using double handed hammers, these are our shock troops. And the last one using double handed axes but also throwing axes. It is for supporting and attacking purposes. The Silverguard however is right now recruiting dwarves that specialize in bow and arrow, for supporting the shield wall in an defensive scenario. The Silverguard also holds close co-operation with the Iron guard also of the Iron hills.
The dwarves swore an oath to Dwadlin (later to Durain). Dwarin was supposed to be the successor of Dwadlin but he died in the battle of a Azanulbizar as did Durain's brother Durdal. Over the ages the Silverguard has fought many great battles like you just read: the battle of Azanulbizar but also the battle of the Five Armies near Erebor.
There are rumors spreading that The Hosts of Dol Goldur and Rhûn are marching an combined army to Erebor, but those are still just rumors.. Let us hope that these stay rumors. If not we'll see our mighty guard defending the dwarven halls once more!
