A promise broken, a promise made

Emotions ran high that day. Sitting before the warm crackling fire of the bedroom, we spoke our thoughts. Concerns buried only briefly for myself, others ones to him for many long years. A we spoke. the warmth of the fire being only surpassed by the growing heat of temper. Yet, at its pinnical something happened, something that still astounds me to this moment. Elven words were whispered from his lips, they fell upon my ignorant ears for I had never been taught the fair language. He paused, those eyes watching my own as he lowered to one knee and clasped my hand within his. Was this to be yet another jest between us? I watched him with doubt in my eyes as my heart felt as if it might stop. Then a question asked, in the fair tongue and common . One I promised to myself never to answer in such a way again. Yet I was stunned, nodding like an idiotic fool, the once calm heart now racing in my chest. My answer although delayed by shock was given without doubt, for who am I to reject such a love as the one we hold for each other. I have made my promise to him and the day of our wedding fast approaches, the day when I, Flannery, become the wife of Yarassi.
