The message has been retrieved. The wounded messenger rode deep into the Lone Lands, where he was ambushed by brigands and killed. The brigands found the scroll he carried and had sold it off to the nearby Dourhand Dwarves who in turn conducted a trade with Orcs (for whom the message appears to have been intended).
Luckily and with the help of the Ranger Archer, the Orc who bore the message did not go far before I struck him down. Parts of the scroll had been ruined by blood, but its contents seem to be some sort of order directing the Orcs of those lands to pile up supplies and stock up on weapons.
It seemed that someone had wanted the Orcs to prepare for something, a raid of some sorts, perhaps. The rest of this is up to speculation. It is fortunate that the message was stopped in time.
