Siege of Kheledul
So I left, I left for my in the Iron Hills. My first step was getting to Bree. I knew from the start that allot of obstacles were going to be in my way. So I prepared, I got myself some armor and a double handed battle axe. I chose for a double handed axe because it seemed the most familiar to me, having used a pickaxe for so long. It had roughly the same weight and length as a pickaxe.
After leaving I came across Gondamon where a friend my mine lives. He gave me a warm welcome. Borin told me that the Dourhands had begun an uprise against the Longbeards and that they had taken the dwarven city of Kheledul. The Longbeards wanting to retake the city and had started a siege, however they didn't have the dwarfpower to attack yet. So I signed up, wanting to test my worth. Borin also signed up and we were assigned to the same group.
Three weeks of training went past as we finally heard the word to attack. Luckily we weren't the first to charge because most of that group didn't, well.. come back. Our group charged third and Borin and I got right into the fray. That was also where I got my first kill although it saddens that it was of my own race. Our catapults smashed a hole into the wall of Kheledul, our group was ordered to get trough that hole and cut of the enemy's reinforcements. We succeeded in doing so, although I was almost Killed in action if it hadn't been for Borin who saved me. The last groups now charged in and Kheledul was soon to be captured. There was one obstacle still: the guard of the Dourhand commander. They were vastly outnumbered but they fought trough, they were eventually killed and the commander was captured. Victory was ours. We had endured heavy losses so there wasn't really a mood for festivities. But what matters was that Kheledul was finally ours again.
After the battle we recovered at Gondamon. We heard that of the first group only 10 survived which originated of 65 dwarfs. I still have some battle scars of when a mace struck me, I should have worn a helmet.. Well we got our pay and were relieved of service. I left Gondamon and Borin and continued my journey towards the Iron Hills. I also by came by Duillond that but did not stay there for long. Then finally I was out of Ered Luin for the first time as a grown up.
Here ends part two of my story.
