Leaving Shire…Part 2

…yes, no bad weather threatened me. On previous evening this was the truth. However the first thing I saw on the next morning was… nothing. I could not see anything, as my eyes were full of water. Even under the tree, I was not completely sheltered from the heavy rain, that must have started on early morning.

I packed my bag and continued my journey, of course the rain did not make it any easier. I almost forgot that water attracts some kind of insects. But they were so kind to remind me of this fact.

On the other hand a bit running chased away the cold and when I also found a very nice looking branch of a high quality wood, I forgot the rain and discomfort and could only think about all the beautiful things I was able to do of it.

Because I mostly do not follow any roads, I did not do it this time as well. After several hours of wandering I found myself in middle of a beautiful meadow, full of small violet flowers. From a greater distance it looked like a big, violet carpet. The best tailor would not be able to make it better.

On the edge of this meadow, there I finally stopped and took rest under a great tree. Here I opened the package from Miss Spriggy and found a delicious pie. (I must thank her for this master piece of a pie).

Strengthen by the lunch I made no longer breaks until at last I reached Bywater. Postman Cotton began to wave as soon as I came nearer. To my surprise another package and letter awaited me. This time from Miss Tibba.

I hid both from rain, of course the letter and package, not Miss Tibba. And I headed to the Green Dragon Inn.

I spent here many Fridays, so I was very happy to see the inn. Finally I could take off the wet clothing, and while sitting by the fireplace and listening to some hobbits, I read the letter from Miss Tibba.

Of course as I was back again in the Green Dragon Inn I could not avoid to drink a pint or two of  Barmy’s best ale.

And even the inn was full of guests, I found a nice, dry place on a bench near the fire and fell asleep.
