The surname ITHILFARON is composed by the ellfish words ITHIL (moon) and FARON (hunter). So this could mean both "he-who-hunts-under-the-moon", reminding the fact that since he was in Mirkwood Elhevor stalked evil creatures like goblins and wargs during full moon nights, and "he-who-tries-to-catch-the-moon", suggesting the fact that he always take up only almost impossible deeds...like tryiing to clean up his home from the East Shadow and the Sindarin Royal House as well!
