Ode to the Fast Post!

Each morning I check on my post box
To see what the fast post's brought me

It's quite a surprise
To see what's inside
I wonder what post there may be

It's often a letter from family
To give all the news from Woodhall
Or from Uncle Bill
With news from The Hill
I eagerly read through them all

And then there is often a leaflet
The Gazette! It is such a fine read
It's got all the news
And recipes too!
The fast post brings all that I need

It's best when I see there's a parcel
It puts me in such a good mood
But will it be clothes?
Hankies for my nose?
I hope for a packet of food!

I once got some mail from Mayor Whitfoot
He asked for some coin for the Hall
But I am sure that he would
Have spent it on food
I replied I had nothing at all!

So, all who deliver the fast post
Are deserving of such a loud cheer
The letters they bring
Are wonderful things
Let's toast them with glasses of beer!
