I am lying on the ground somewhere in Dunland, trying to sleep next to some of the House of Vanimar, instead of my comfortable bed in Rivendell or Lórien. So how did this happen? When I first entered the house, the people I met after Lord Anglachelm were of the Order of Hammer. When the events started to go rough on them, I felt like I needed to make myself useful for them as a warrior that I am.
Originally I was told by Lord Anglachelm to look for Lord Vorongwe to join the Order of the Fountain, and to discuss of another personal matter that needed approval. But he was nowhere to be found for a long time. Which one is a bigger error, to not fulfill the order of Lord Anglachelm, or to not look for him when he's in trouble? Since he had the kindness to accept me among us, I chose the latter as an answer, but also because finding him was more urgent. Also, I've had a Lord of mine captured before, and I am bearing a hope that another one does not need to die as a captive of the Enemy like he did. Perhaps there is still a chance to turn the tide this time, even if it is a faint one.
I'm looking at Estarfin. Apparently he was a companion of Danel such as Elloen was, but I do not know much else about him besides the recent events. Parnard seems to know him, this fellow with the mannerisms of a young Elf. Veryacano told me to look after him, though to me he seems harmless, except for the occasional clumsiness. At least he is a colourful spot within us, a reason to flash a smile at times. I talked about venison earlier and he was delighted, but when I will hunt here, he will have to be content with boar I'm afraid. It's all the game I see in these parts.
Now, about the trio of Nirhen, Estarfin and Naergon... It saddens me greatly that they would see burning a whole village as a fit action to cover our trail. First of all, the chieftain might have told the other villages about us. Secondly, a burnt village full of slaughtered inhabitants speaks volumes about what has been done in Enedwaith. All of that only proves that the chieftain was right when he called us as savages and fiends. I only wonder if the road behind us leading to the Valley is still safe.
I would like to separate myself from all the unnecessary slaying of Men, because I know by experience that Men can be very different – both civil and true of heart or savage and easy to buy. But it is a fact that we are living the time of war, and even then the certain ways of doing things separate the Eldar from the Orcs as I told to Fearanie. What the trio did sounded very Orcish to me; the Eldar would not kill everyone in the village including the children, ”just in case”. Who knows, maybe the children would have changed the course of these Men if they were allowed to live. But they have now lost that future.
I will still stay with the group, but with a broken trust for some of us. I am now only concentrating in searching for Anglachelm and feeding the company, but that is all. I only hope that Parnard won't take any bad influence from the trio, and also destroy his innocence too early.
I think none of us as a coward, no matter what has been said with the flames in our hearts. May Belegos get back to the Valley safely.
