Journal entry 17, Songburrow Strollers Fifth Anniversary Concert

Dear Mother and Father,

I've been very excited the past few weeks because the Songburrow Strollers had planned a fifth anniversary concert that would actually be five concerts! And it was everything I'd expected! I was a little late for the first one, in Brockenborings, which was near where they hold the fencerunning races on the Bullroarer's anniversary. But I did get to hear a few songs and danced with a very nice hobbitlad I never caught the name of.

When the first concert was over, there was a sort of procession to Budgeford, where the Strollers set up in a sty of all places! I don't know what they were thinking, though I did hear someone say bacon tastes better when the pigs have listened to music, so maybe that was the thought behind it? Whatever the case, Jardic joined the audience there and seemed to be hitting it off very well with a pig! I'm not sure if Jardic was sizing it up for bacon or something else, but the pig looked rather sad when we left for the next stop, which was in Frogmorton.

Frogmorton brought back memories of a Strollers concert a few years earlier, when Bootsy played the harp, though Bootsy sadly wasn't with us this time. The flowers were just as thick on the ground we danced on though. A few of the hobbits made a ring and danced around a tree before the concert there ended and we made our way to Bywater.

Bywater was just as busy as the past week because the Farmer's Faire was still in full swing. So the Strollers took us to a little slope near the Methel Stage where they played the bouncing song which had us all bouncing down the hill! We kept having to run back up to hear the music again!

When we had all gotten our breath back from bouncing, we lit our lanterns and made our way to Hobbiton and the Ivy Bush Inn, where we got introduced to everyone who had ever played for the Songburrow Strollers. I just wish I could remember all the names! I do remember Tibba got mentioned and Sevelda and Bootsy and Rowana, though Rowana wasn't there either.

Then when they'd played the last song, we went out and let off fireworks before we all went home. I really enjoyed all the concerts and thought it was a wonderfully original way to celebrate the Songburrow Strollers' fifth anniversary.

Your loving Zara
