Journal of a Surgeon, Entry 9: A killing, False Fatherhood and a stolen Friend

A week has passed. I see no signs of sickness upon me. I spoke with the Bard-Smith, Daerren, and he agreed to accompany me to my house, which I had not approached in quite a while. I knew trouble would find me thither, since my enemies likely know my residence. Yet what we came upon were an agape door. And within, a dusty place with a familiar basket upon a table. The crying of infants  rang our ears.

I knew they could not remain with me. Hence I tried to persuade Daerren to keep them. Though he hurried to his house, after stating that the hatted farmer would be a more suitable destination. It is indeed a great commitment, and he does not seem nor willing or prepared to take on such responsibility. However, the twins are bound to be reclaimed sometime in the future. The slavers shall wish to take them back, once they are of age. Therefore, I cannot let them stay, nor allow Waldera to become attached to the children. I do not wish her to be hurt.

I let her know when the time came eventually. She were not at all pleased, though it had to be done, For the time being they require uttmost care. At least she shall have some time to spare with them. They have been through many hardships, and I am uncertain whether they shall make it. Children oft catch their deaths, being small and less hardy than an adult.

Though some who have come of age prefer to find their grave earlier than others. The stingy woman with the large goshawk had been begging me to grant her death. Though, because I hated her, I had kept her alive in order to torment her. Though after my last meeting with Redain, it seemed essential that I used the large bird to send a message. To inform Kelly and Fayana that their location has been betrayed. A fair trade, a venomous rose in exchange for the goshawk.

And so passed the individual who had once threatened to harm my Waldera.

Things have been changing, for better or worse. Daerren appears to have found the Oh so very much expected “love of his life”...the thought of it even, it brings revolt to my throat. To even consider he spends more and more time with this illiterate Female...She lacks much knowledge, I assume even the basics. Clearly she is after the money of Daerren, as I have seen so happen many times. Yet...I cannot prove so. Nor would he open his lovestruck blinded eyes. The way he looks into her gaze...Like a dizzy pidgeon, which has been put to a sack and given a thrust into the wall.

Though, at least he appears happy in this ignorance. I promised to try and “Like” this female. This shall be challenging...
