Dear Mother and Father,
I have been very bad at keeping you updated lately, I know. It's not even that things have been that busy. I mean, I've gone to the Green Dragon on a few fridays, which is always very pleasant, but the last time, I left early. There was a lot of news though. The Songburrow Strollers will have been a band for five years in a few weeks, so they are planning a set of concerts around the Shire, to which they will stroll in between! It sounds like a lovely way to see the Shire so I may well try to attend that. And on the note of music (pun intended!), there will be a Bard's Day Concert to remember old bards and music. Anyone will be allowed to play their own music if they want to. I just hope I can finish my songs in time! Also, before I forget, miss Jadite is organising an Autumn Poetry Competition, so I may have a go at writing something for that, if I'm not too busy.
Also, in a week or so, the Harnkeggar Races will be held, which is a dwarven race, but all the Free Peoples of Middleearth are invited to participate, so I expect it will be well-visited. Especially since the prizes are quite enticing! Ponies as rewards as well as gold. I may well try my hand at a race or two, just for the sport of it. And it will be lovely to see Thorin's Hall again, it's been quite some time since I went there last, with Rua on one of his trips.
Speaking of trips, I made a short one to Michel Delving the other day, for some supplies, and who should I meet but miss Lina, playing her harp in the square! We got to talking about this and that, and a few more hobbits joined us, so I stayed to dance and listen to the music and met a few new hobbits who seemed very nice indeed. One even magicked a flower from behind my ear, which left me quite disconcerted! What was his name again... I think I must have missed it due to the magic trick! How unfortunate!
Then there was master Wolden, all dressed in blue. I do so love that colour! He was very polite and kind. And then a hobbit arrived that I was sure was master Ponso, so I greeted him warmly, only to realise on second glance that it was someone else completely! I was so embarrassed that I didn't catch his name when he introduced himself. Bad Zara! But he really did look very much like master Ponso! While they didn't seem to mind me making a fool of myself, I decided I should leave before I did something even worse, so I took my leave, did my errands and fled back to Songburrow and home. Sometimes I'm such a coward. I hope you won't be too disappointed in me!
Your loving Zara
