Conflicted
It has been many months since Awiergan left the ranks of the Esquires and given up his pursuit to return home to the Riddermark, but the thought of it always lingered in his mind and often it had been brought up in conversation. It was a frustrating matter for him and it ended always with his ire being risen, though it was never risen against anyone. Some deemed him to be a coward to reside within Bree and live peacefully whilst there are others who are fighting for their home and the thoughts of this truly left Awiergan conflicted for he deemed Bree to be safe for he and his wife to live.
Once more the opportunity to has been given to him to return home to his true home, Rohan. But he left the offer unanswered for he had to gather his thoughts upon the matter and long he pondered, often he spent long nights awake on the matter and the decision had not come easily to him. But his mind was made and he decided to return to Rohan and fight for his home.
He has practiced his writing and he is no capable of doing so on his own after much labour. He awoke the ere the sun had risen upon the day of his departure but he had not told his wife of it and upon the morning he sat on the porch as she slept and he wrote a letter. When the time came for him to depart he went to his wife who still lied asleep and kissed her a final farewell before leaving the letter at her side. She murmured his name as she slowly began to rouse and he turned for the door, glancing over his shoulder and smiling at that beautiful woman who was his wife, and his heart sank to have left her so.
The contents of Awiergan's letter:
My love,
I have decided that the time has come for me to fight. To return to the lands that I love and fight among those who are giving their lives to keep it safe against our vile enemies. But do not despair, for I shall return. I must keep our birthplace safe for the three of us. But to you also I give a task; My heart was filled with joy last week when you had told me that you are with a child and that I am soon to be a father. I cannot bring forth words describe how happy it has made me and I now know that I must go fight for the three of us. I give to you the task of protecting our child. I know you are strong and ever you wish to show your strength and perhaps a day shall come when you may show valiance in battle, but now it is your time to show valiance as a woman and keep safe our child.
Ever happy and grateful I have been to have married such a woman. Ever the thoughts of you shall linger in my mind but it shall be no burden and it shall make strong as it always should have. Please wait for me, but I shall make no promise of my return for I know not what awaits in Rohan and if I should fall then I have died a worthy death. But I shall not fall ere my gaze sets upon Riddermark once more. I wish you and our child the best and give to you both all my love.
I go now to Rohan to aid our folk.
Farewell
-Awiergan.
