At the Ruins

On a bright day, Waldera wore her shoes and climbed up the slope which went up the Windview Estate, over to the town square, where the Inn of the Prancing Pony was. The slope lead to an area where ruins stood. She knew this place from her childhood when she used to play children's games around this area. Even in those days she had felt a strange vibration around these ruins, a potent feeling: perhaps a mixture of awe and wonder.

She walked into the ruins with all her senses open. Her light footsteps were searching as her touch on the old stone was gentle and curious. There was a tomb with the star carving on it. With her hands and breath she removed the dust on the carving. With the tips of her fingers she followed the lines that made the star and gazed at it for a long while. With creased eyebrows she looked up at the blue sky and wondered still...

She walked around the ruins searching and searching for a sign, a small tip for her to guess further, until she got weariy and thirsty. After one last glance, she left the ruins silently, leaving her wonder and curiosity for another day and headed for the inn for a warm drink.
