Background
History
In the year 4995 of the First Age, Fëanor and his Sons committed the first of the Kinslayings. On the shores of Valinor, in the Telari city of Alqualondë, the followers of Fëanor killed many of their brothers to steal their ships. The reason? To wage war upon Morgoth to revenge the theft of the Silmarils. It was on these stolen ships that the Fëananorians subjected themselves to the Doom of Mandos.

Even now, many long years after the Kinslaying, the Sons of Fëanor, the Noldorin, still feel the curse that those on the stolen ships did; they still feel the burn on their hands from the Slimarils that they were forbidden to touch. It is a guilt that many feel who should not, and one that, in the darkness and gloom of what their fathers did in past days, drives the Sons of Fëanor to achieve greatness in the name of redemption.
It is this guilt that drove Thurfin Therlidon, a son of distant Fëananorians, to create this band of Elves to fight the darkness that threatens his people, and those whom they love. From the Trollshaws to the Elven-towns on the banks of the River Lune and the Grey Havens, the threat of the Dark Lord can be felt, and, though distant, it finds its way into the minds of all who know it. This is why he created the Gweth en Mallen Rovail.
Corps, Regiments and Groups
The Spear Regiment (Corch)

Purpose:
To commence assault on the enemy, provide the power and strength of battle, and to spearhead any combat situations. They also must be adept in parade for events and gatherings.
Roles:
Spearman: A trained warrior and fighter, trained in advanced combat techniques used in battles against the enemy. Trained with the spear and shield.
Swordsman: Trained similarly to the Spearman, however with a sword.
Officer: Leads small groups of soldiers against the enemy. Is immediately responsible for their welfare, training, and work.
The Shield Regiment (Heledir)

Purpose:
To guard areas of interest, patrol regularly, and preform the unique parade routine of "The Wall against Attack". They are only posted on active attacks when a larger force is needed.
Roles:
Guard: Trained in guarding entrances and important people. Is expected to guard ordered locations with his life if need be, and do so with a lawful and merciful attitude.
Patrolman: Expected to patrol areas of interest, his purpose to spot threats and respond quickly. Effectively, a Patrolman is a policing unit for more domestic/low-threat conflicts.
Officer: An Officer in The Shield Regiment is expected to lead a small number of units when tasked with guarding/patrolling tasks, as well as be adept in leading Parade shows.
The Forrest Regiment (Emlin)

Purpose:
The Forest Regiment's purpose is primarily path finding and scouting-like roles. Their job is to ensure that the oath we tread is safe, and no enemy lurk near of far. They also specialize in intelligence gathering and being very self-reliant. The only time they are required to wear specific uniform is when on parade, or during kinship events. During operations they are required to dress in a way that they will be hidden.
Roles:
Scout: A Scout is expected to be very self-reliant and adept in moving quickly and quietly. They are very well trained and relied upon when many lives are at stake. They must gather intelligence and ensure the path is clear.
Ranger: Rangers, much like scouts, are use for contacting the enemy at a long range, where secrecy and silence is a demand. They are trained with the bow, and with the sword in less detail.
Officer: Much like in the other Regiments, Officers are required to lead and take responsibility of a small number of troops. They are responsible for their lives and their work.
The Local Regiment (Tuilinn)

Purpose:
The Local Regiment's purpose is to provide pastoral and domestic support to the kinship and its members; this can include catering, crafting, setting up camps, hunting, and controlling the resources and finances of the kinship (please note, no in-game crafting proficiencies, items, or levels are required for this regiment, nor for any others).
Roles:
Chef: Expected to provide food and drink to those in the kinship on a regular basis, as well as cater for guests and councils.
Crafter: Adept in crafting weapons, armor, and clothes, and other items for the kinship.
Hunter: Expected to gather resources for the kinship and bring them back to those who use them in their role (note: this does not mean gathering in-game items. Just roleplaying the gathering of the items).
Wayfarer: To be able to lead the transport of troops, people, and items over long distances. Heavily linked to The Shield Regiment, this is possible the most dangerous job within The Local Regiment, due to the risk of robberies and hold-ups. Also expected to be adept in setting up camps, and choosing the location to do so.
Financial Officer: In charge of the kinship's finances and trading deals. Expected to be able to deal with other kinships, and help create a hospitable trading relationships.
Uniform
Uniform is required for all times that the person is representing the kinship; this includes patrolling, parades, and other kinship gatherings.

Recruitment
Currently the kinship is actively recruiting and accepting people into all Standard Roles of the kinship. Also, as the kinship is fairly new, we are also accepting non-specific applications" for "Unique Roles" within the kin (such as the leader of a Regiment).
Applying for a Unique Role:
To apply for a unique role, you must send an IC letter to Thurfin outlining these topics:
Who you are:
Tell us who you are, and who your character is. This way he can get a good idea of who the application is from.
What Regiment you wish to join and why:
This way, we can get an understanding of what you wish to do for the kin, and what you have to offer.
What you would like to do within the kin:
No specific Unique Roles are stated, as to encourage people to join with an open mind. Outline what sort of things you would like to do for the kin.
Anything else we should now:
Got anything you would like us to know when you apply? Simply put it at the bottom of the letter!
Applying for a Standard Role:
Again, to apply for a Standard Role, you should send an IC letter to Thurfin outlining these topics:
Who you are:
Let us know about your character, and what he does.wants to do. This sort of information is very useful when we receive an application.
What Regiment and Role you wish:
With this one, try and add a few different ones, even if all in the same regiment. This gives you an open list of opportunities, and puts you where you would fit best.
What you can bring to the kinship, and more specifically, your Regiment/Role:
Convince us! We like people with personal talents and skills!
Anything else:
Just anything else you want us to know!
Things to note when submitting an application:
It's all in-character: The application should be submitted in character, written in the 1st person, as if the elf applying to join had written it him/her self. If you wish to include basic out of character information at the bottom of the letter, that is fine, however it should be made clear that it is out of character information ((for instance, placing it in double brackets)).
We're not expecting paragraphs!: There is no need to write reams and reams of information, as the application is a very basic part of the recruitment. Leave some things out for us to discover through roleplaying with you.
Don't be afraid to put in a few bad points: We, here at Gweth en Mallen Rovail, understand %110 that no-one is perfect (not even the elves!), so do not be afraid to put some slightly less-convincing points down. Are you new to roleplaying? Not a native English speaker? Spelling not your strong point? Anything that you are worried or concerned about can be put into the letter, both as in character and out of character. We would rather know, so that we may approach your recruitment in the best way possible.
Process:
After your application is accepted, you will be invited into the kinship as a recruit. In order to become a true member of the kinship, you must attend an in-character meeting with Thurfin, either by yourself, or with other recruits:
The IC Meeting:
This meeting is a formal way for Thurfin to get a sense of what your are like in person and have a chance to speak to you on a 1-to-1 basis. Also, in this meeting, basic parade moves are tested.
Having passed the in-character meeting, you will be granted the kinship title of Member and given your uniform, however you will be asked to change your note to "To Pass Out":
The Passing Out Parade:
The Passing Out Parade is a unique moment in every member's life, as it is their formal entry into Gweth en Mallen Rovail. This parade is a public event held in Duillond by all those who pass into the Member status.
Now that you've passed out, it's off to your Regiment to be trained. Now you are under full responsibility of your Regimental leader!
Feel free to send Thurfin a mail or a tell in game for more information!
((More to come!))
