Protecting Your Interests Re: Elves - a Song

The elves would gladly die for gems,
They delight in keeping rankour'd
Give me a dwarf who doesn't mind, and mines -

to hit the pay dirt!

A 'Suilad Melon' may be quite continental,
But mithril is a dwarf's best friend!
An oath may be strong, but it won't pay the rental -
On your humble halls,
Or help you when a dragon calls!

Elves grow cold as dwarves grow old,
And we all lose our houses in the end,
But broad-beamed or rich-seamed, this stuff won't lose its gleam,
Mithril is a dwarf's best friend!

There may come a time when an elf needs a favour,
But mithril is a dwarf's best friend!
There may come a time when a'respectable neighbour
Thinks you're awfully nice,
But get that ice or else no dice!

He's a tease for expertise, but beware when he won't make amends,
It's then that your patron turns into your hit man,
Mithril is a dwarf's best -
I don't mean silver -
Mithril is a dwarf's best friend!

((For a laugh about that Thingol guy, and elf-dwarf relations as a whole! With a little humour maybe we can get over some of that ancient bad blood, eh boys and girls? Sung to the well known tune from 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes', "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend". Inspired more by the Carol Channing version than by the Marylin Monroe one.))
