Journal entry 1, The Warmest Homecoming

Dear Mother and Father,

It has been so long since I wrote anything, so I've decided to start a new journal. I've been away for forever, though I'm back living with Rua at 5 Brookbank street in Songburrow now. It's still the prettiest burrow in the neighbourhood, though I've had to do a lot of cleaning since we've been gone for such a long time. I won't tell you all my adventures, you wouldn't believe half of them anyway, so instead I will tell you about the lovely welcome home I got when I suddenly showed up at the Green Dragon last Friday.

Miss Lina was there, playing her harp beautifully as always and I saw so many friendly, familiar faces. Miss Akelay and Miss Tibba were there with Miss Nimelia. I saw Master Uswin and his friend master Chadwick. Miss Amorey was there with a pretty fellow I didn't get the name of, though he played well. So many familiar faces and so many unfamiliar ones, though they all gave me a very warm welcome even though I arrived late, and I felt like I hadn't been away for as long as I had. It was just wonderful.

We danced and sang and Lina played the hopping song and "No Place Like Home", making me feel so nostalgic and grateful to be home. We had some riddles and I even guessed one! I have so much catching up to do on the news in the Shire, so I've written to the Bramblebury Gazette to become a subscriber. Lina told us the 8th Historical Field Trip would be on Sunday, so I'm planning to go there as well.

Your loving Zara.
