Blince Kolten's Journal of his past - page two

The next couple days with a actual friend were great. We drank together, sang together. Gods, we were doing all the craziest things! Neither of us would back down from the other. He threw something this far, I had to throw it farther. Although we would tease, neither of us ever got mad or annoyed with the other. It was all good fun until I told Loghain that I had ran out of money and needed a job. He asked if I wanted to work with him, I agreed.

*There’s a doodle of the wolf’s head, the teeth dripping with blood, Loghain’s tattoo. And next to it a replica of Blince’s, a shield with the silhouette of a horses head.*

That job.. Is something I’ll never forget, the day he took me down into the sewers and lead me through the pipes, the passages.. Halls.. I don’t know what you would call them.. but there was tens of millions of mazes.. And he never questioned his sense of direction. Neither did I. I trusted Loghain, I’m not sure why I did so quickly either. We reached a huge, thick wooden door and Loghain knocked on it fifteen times. Someone opened it and let us in... there was ‘The Leaky Bandit’ the inn that all those in Loghain’s profession used, although at the time I didn’t know that. I walked through, leisurely, not afraid of the many drunks and pick pockets there. They all seemed to fan out of Loghain’s way and mine... Not sure why mine though.. Maybe it’s because I was with him, maybe it’s ‘because I had a sword. What I do know, is that Loghain had a reputation. I continued to look around before I heard a thunderous ‘CRACK!’ and turned in the direction of the noise, as did Loghain. There stood another huge man, bigger than Loghain and I...  I drew my sword and as I did, the man yelled out in this pompous, enraged voice “LOGHAIN! Hello old friend! How’re you!? I’m not well, though I’m sure YOU KNOW THAT!”. Loghain stepped towards the man; hand on the hilt of his metal mace. “Business is business ya’ fat arse! Don’ take it-“and suddenly the man through a chair at Loghain, he rolled to the side and the chair hit the wall with the same ‘CRACK!’. That’s what made the noise before. Loghain stood up again ‘EASY! EASY! Don’t take it personally!’ he yelled back though the man had already lifted another chair. Loghain was read y to roll when suddenly another ‘CRACK!’ was heard and giant man fell flat on his face. There I was behind him. I clicked my neck side to side and walked over to Loghain “What were you going to show me?” and Loghain grinned, breaking into a deep laugh. “Come along blindy..” he said as he ushered me to another door, though he just entered this one “Oi! Boss-man! I got my partner!” and I blinked. “Partner? What?” I thought to myself, then glanced at ‘Boss-man’ and squinted my one eye at him. What I saw was truly sick, it was a fat man sitting in what seemed like a expensive, comfy chair, gobbling down bit after bit of a steak. “Oh! Finally, Loghain!” He said through his loud and messy chewing. The ‘Boss-man’ looked over to me “Who’s this?” he said with a happy, disgusting grin. The food falling from his mouth as he did “Blince Kolten.. the heck are you?” I said, not caring, nor knowing who the man was at the time. He grinned wider, no food falling out, thank the Valar. “I’m the ‘Boss-man’! You’re going to be working with Loghain I take it?” he said, I nodded and before I was even ready to say ‘Yes’ he interrupted “Good! Now then, next job is at the Uthon residence! Get what you can and get out! The usual!” And Loghain ushered me back out to the streets. For what? I didn’t know. Nor did I care strangely. Felt good to be back in action, to get stuff done.

*There’s a blotch of ink here, seeming Blince had to rush out on writing.*
