Dearest Eliriael,
Have you arrived yet in Imladris safely? It has been many weeks now since you departed, promising to write of your arrival once you had reached Lord Elrond’s House.
I do not find it likely I will find it easy to forgive you, for making me worry, if you have simply forgotten to write, as you so often do. Letter-writing may seem tedious to you in comparison to the beauty of the valley, in which you must be reveling thoroughly if you have arrived. Yet, keeping correspondence between us is of greatest importance to me. I hope you know this.
It has been lonely in Lindon without your company and I wonder if I should have gone with you. Still, it was hard for me to leave when the Seas was so close.
Though, it will be to your surprise that I stood amongst other company today. Some elves had gathered near the forges of Duillond with a dwarf, who slurred and swayed under the influence of cider. I was looking over my most recent designs and sketches when they invited me to join them. Can you imagine Eliriael, they invited me! And I joined them!
Thus I passed the evening in their company and their cider, which was most pleasing. From them I learned little of how the East fares much worse than the West. Is it true? Have things gone so astray? It is in part due to these tidings that I anxiously write to you now to hear of your safe arrival.
From the elves I learned much of the events and people who come together to protect the lands in the West...the Mithdirith, wardens watching the borders of our lands, diplomatic gatherings, Tings…But what is there to protect you so far in the East?
Write quickly for I am impatient,
Miruial
