I've grown fond of the vague acceptance found disguised as someone besides myself. It sometimes makes me wish I had went on a different path in life. Today I (As Alexa, not myself) tried to infiltrate the watch.
I had to buy a uniform from a smuggler, and dye it myself. Of course, they caught on rather quickly and dragged me back to the jail-house. Odall questioned me and I told him someone outside had been pretending to recruit watchers. A lie, but they bought it.
I somehow sense that Odall knows who I really am, and it makes me wonder why he won't do anything about it. His son, however, is still young. Still easy to fool. He personally escorted me into the back and watched me change out of the uniform.
I might have been offended, but I realized it is less offensive than if he were to walk out of the room in disgust. At least he had the decency to try not to let his eyes wander, it kept them off my dual blade tattoo (the basic Brigands of Bree symbol).
They provided me with spare clothing and took the watchers uniform away from me. They then questioned me about where I got it, seemed to believe my lie, and sent me on my way. Though I was thrilled to not been discovered as who I am, I was oddly disappointed not to be accepted into the watch. I am not sure if it is due simply to the fact I cannot salvage their information, or because I had for some reason liked the idea. Alas, I am a brigand. The watch is not for me.
