Background
“The north is in turmoil.” Boromir said to Andoramir. “The Rangers cannot hope to hold back this storm”
Andoramir listened to the captain of Gondor closely. He loved Boromir as every Gondorian did. Boromir was pacing in the guest house in Rivendell, obvious worry on his mind.
“I thought that the walls and men of Gondor kept the lands behind us safe and secure from the enemy. Now, I am not so sure. It seems that we are fighting and dying along the Anduin, holding the forces of Mordor at bay, only for others to assail our rear!” He Stopped pacing and stared at Andoramir. “I want you to gather all wayward men of Gondor, here in the north, and organize them into a host. I know your father back home. He is a noble man and a great leader and I fought alongside your brother in Osgiliath. The blood of a strong leader is in you and now you must step forward. Cast off your wandering spirit and come to the aid of the White Tower, for, if you do not do this thing here, we may prevail against Mordor only to find our walls assaulted again by the forces of Angmar!”
“My Lord,” Andoramir said, “I would do as you ask but I know not how to raise a host for war, let alone train it and lead it in battle”
Boromir stopped and thought about this. “I’ve heard tell of a man. He was tall and proud once but has fallen into dishonor. His name is Iarvund. He was a soldier of Gondor until he struck his captain and was cast out. Last I heard he was travelling in this land. Find him. Offer him pardon for his assistance and you shall have all the help you need.”
“Yes my Lord!” Andoramir said with a bow and turned to walk out. He had already met Iarvund but didn’t want to let Lord Boromir know that for fear that it might disgrace himself for knowingly keeping company with a man so dishonored.
“I will be leaving here soon on a matter of great importance. I will not be able to assist you. Fare well!” Boromir called.
Once outside the door, Andoramir walked to his horse Brandis and thought of his task ahead. The last he saw Iarvund was at Tinnundir, so that is where he was headed.
