29th Ringaré, Calendar of Númenor
Alas for this last week has been riddled with naught but troubles and strife.. It began several back back upon my arrival back at the home of Kalesiar and the protectors. I was greeted with a letter signed from a friend of my youth, Barudric, who made mention of a small band travelling through the Fields of Fornost and bearing the symbol of Angmar and the Iron Crown. He claims to have stalked them for many miles, through the South-Eastern lands of Evendim and that he believed their destination was amongst the many ruins of Trollshaws. The party was small, comprised mostly of sharpshooters and, what Barudric took to be, treasure hunters.
I travelled East across towards the Brandywine River with a haste, Súlroch had little time to regain her energies though her stamina proved to be of great worth and we reached out goal by nightfall. I quickly came across the tracks of my foe as this warband of Angmar offered little skill in the arts of subtle travel. Two large horses pulled a cart laden with assorted tools and equipment which lent itself to Barudrics assumptions of treasure hunters. Though they showed no interest in stealth, they woud only travel under nightfall and spent nights amidst a lesser class of the brigands of Bree-land. Chants and disgruntled songs are shared throughout the days whilst the brigands and banditry stand guard across the encampments.
Their quest took them through Bree-land and into the Lone-lands. Whilst here the chants became quieter, they continued throughout their travels. A worrying thought that such words can be shared so freely through the lands of the free peoples. After four nights following the warband we finally passed across the Last Bridge and into the Trollshaws where the caravan was met by more of the purple-dressed men of Angmar. These wielded more weaponry, showing me that this was far from the simple expedition I had hoped it to be.
The luck of my hunt had ran out and I was spotted by one of their marksmen who sent a bolt narrowly past my ear. I fled into the woods, it would have become folly for me to engage these foes in a straight up fight. I travelled to Thorenhad, where I shall continue my journal in the morrow.
