Background
Once, a fortress stood on the banks of the Anduin, just north of the Undeeps. It was called Duin Dae, built by dwarves and elves to protect Rhovanion from incursions from the south. Its defenders included elves from Lorien and Mirkwood, dwarves of the Misty Mountains, Erebor and the Grey Mountains, and Men from the Eodreod, Dale, and Gondor.
When the Balchoth Easterlings invaded from the south, Duin Dae stood in their way. Though outnumber 10 to 1 at least, the defenders of the fort stood strong, holding out for several days. When the fort finally fell, the Easterlings were so enraged at the defenders that they tore the keep apart, brick by brick.
Only a handful of the warriors survived the battle. They were led from the ruined fortress by Amathruil Farstrider, a former Marchwarden of Lorien. He sought to rebuild the Watchers with the goal of refounding Duin Dae, but he fell in love with the land of Middle Earth. Now, his efforts to return the Watchers to their former strength are aimed at the defense of the remaining places of beauty within Arda, a cause they all consider of the utmost importance.
The Lost Watchers can be found roaming anywhere in the land. They do not stay idle long, preferring the road to settlements, and battle to rest. Most of their members are more comfortable with a canopy of stars above them than a roof. They are utterly dedicated to the erradication of the forces of Darkness, and can most often be found battling these foul foes far from the other forces of Good, defending places far off the beaten path.
The Lost Watchers are always seeking new warriors to stand beside them. Those interested should seek out Amathruil Farstrider, former Champion of the Watch.
