It’s a bright blue afternoon and I am sitting idly on a terrace in Celondím (the view is beautiful). I stopped here so Mal could relax a bit and get some hay.
The journey to the Grey Havens is nearly over and I can’t wait to get a pinte of mead in Bree, to where I hope to get later this evening. I won’t rush on Mal though - he brought me here all the way from Grey Havens without a single stop. I have never put so much pressure on him. But so far he hasn’t complained.
Two days ago, when I had my stop in Rivendell – that was before I got to the Havens – I’ve spoken with Elrond. He warned me that his spies reported several bands of orcs guarding the Caradhras passage. So I am unsure which route should I take on my way to Lorien tomorrow morning. I am not really eager to go south, around Isengard and then through the Fangorn forest. And to go north, over Mount Gundabab and through the lands of Carrock would be a suicide. First, these ways are much more dangerous than a bunch of orcs and second, they’re too long. And I don’t have time to spare - on the contrary. Elrond wants me to take one of the longer routes, but I will let my instincts decide.
I think I’ll go get Mal now so we arrive in Bree earlier. And maybe I’ll catch Al there!
I need a rest, too.
