Forochel Journal Entry 1

Today I passed north through Ost Forod and made my way to Forochel. The road here is watched by a band of tomb-robbers, but they were foolish, and paid no attention to my passing. I reached the archway of Cirith Rhiw by late morning, afterwards there was a steep incline, which led into a ravine lined with trees.

The way became filled with snow as I moved further through the ravine, the trees soon lost their lush green texture and were replaced by any icy pale covering. The land then seemed to move in a series of declines and inclines, I could see how some travelers could easily get lost here, as the paths cross many times, and are almost entirely covered from a recent snowfall. I could soon see my breath in front of me, it was cold, but it is just a matter of acclimating to the region.

I exited the ravine by the afternoon, into what seemed to be a large valley, most likely dug from a glacier many lifetimes ago. This valley seems to contain a lake, which surprisingly was not yet frozen over, so at least I have a source of fresh water. I set up camp before the evening set in, for which I am glad, for the cold sets in drastically after the sun sets, I fear that could pose an issue as time goes on. I must make a note to set camp quickly, as the cold may be too much without a fire going.
